Cross-jurisdiction Collaboration among HIV Prevention Organizations
Objective
Our objective was to identify HIV prevention services organization (HPO) perceived benefits and barriers to collaboration with other HPOs.
Methods
Leaders of 26 HPOs completed an interviewer-assisted survey.
Results
HPOs (≥ 50%) agreed that the benefits of collaborations include service improvement, potential for funding, and efficiency. HPOs (≥ 50%) also agreed that lack of follow-up, staffing and resources inhibit collaboration. Cross-jurisdiction grant-writing efficacy correlated negatively with perceived barriers to cross-jurisdictional collaboration (r = -.642, < .01).
Conclusions
Having more perceived barriers was correlated with less collaborative grant-writing efficacy suggesting that HPO leaders’ perceptions of barriers may impede cross-jurisdictional collaborative efforts and should be a focus of technical assistance.
