Objective

In this pilot study, we aimed to pilot test the psychometric properties of a collection of existing instruments reframed to fit within the Behavioral Ecological Model. Factors influencing the uptake of personal climate change mitigation and adaptation behavior (MAB) were measured.

Methods

Students from a midwestern university (N = 509) participated in the study. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) using partial least squares (PLS) estimation was conducted.

Results

Results showed that the instrument exhibited satisfactory construct validity, as well as internal consistency reliability. The approximate model fit for the measurement model was acceptable, SRMR = 0.049.

Conclusions

This instrument could be used by student health staff as a MAB needs assessment tool and guide for the subsequent development of MAB health education programs for college students.
